Pharmagiles was a hilarious blog that spoofed the pharmaceutical industry and was a frequent commentator on the (now also defunct) website pharmalot.com. He was a pioneer in the creative use of Photoshop to poke fun and created a fake pharmaceutical company on the internet. When I first clicked on the link to his name from one of his comments and arrived at his site I wondered… who is this guy? But then when he disappeared it seemed obvious he must have been a pharma insider who got nabbed by his employer and was forced by their lawyers to take it all down and sign an agreement of secrecy. Which has been pretty effective since noone knows who he is.

So sometime last year pharmagiles suddently disappeared from the internet and took down all of his archived posts. That made some of us wonder…

What ever happened to Pharmagiles?

It’s like you grew up with a bunch of Armenians, and suddenly they disappeared, and everyone tells you that they never existed.

I came across a reference to Pharmagiles in another blog and started googling him. Someone had preserved his Children’s Guide to Modern Medicine which I found here.

If anyone has any more of the old material send it my way.

I’m sure he/she was a Brit given the Ladybird spoof. My kids (who grew up in England) grew up with these well loved series. This is great stuff. Hope more archives turn up.

Miss the guy. Perhaps he will reappear under a new moniker.

Jack Friday posts stuff for him on Pharmagossip from time to time.

So who was he and what happened to his blog?

  6. Ann O'Nimmus says:

Giles was a genius. One of his (or her) cleverest fantasies can be found here.

  7. Stan says:

See the comments section of this web-page; Pharma Giles is revealed to be British cartoonist Ron McGeary.
