Medical professionals have a strong responsibility to their patients, but what about their criminal liability if their patient dies? Does a medical professional remain liable even if the patient refuses to follow his or her medical advice? Should a doctor or other medical professional face criminal [...]
I was listening to the Howard Stern show the other day when I heard Tila Tequila talk about the death of her “wifey”, socialite and Johnson & Johnson family heiress Casey Johnson. I was like, whoa, these celebrities are dropping like flies! What they all have in common is a death related to prescription medications. [...]

Leaders of the American Medical Industrial complex wrote a letter to the Obama administration recently promising to bring down the costs of healthcare. I don’t know about you but to me this is like asking a wolf to eat less red meat! Let’s see, who were on the list of worthies?
Merck drew up a “hit list” of doctors in academia whose opinions about Vioxx were negative in order to “neutralise” or “discredit” them (their words, not mine).
This month’s American Journal of Psychiatry has a somewhat lame article on conflicts of interest regarding the pharmaceutical industry and psychiatry. Before I delve into this piece I must provide some background information, however. Psychiatry is divided into two sections, maybe three.
